Mini Midi Festival 2008
May 1 st and 2 nd of 2008 in Peking at the Kolegas Bar of Waterland Kwanyin.
Mini Midi Festival is a part of MIDI Festival which is earliest and largest outdoor festival in China.
In the year of 2005 it debuted as experimental stage of MIDI Festival, Then appears concomitantly
with MIDI Festival annually. It was managed by Beijing MIDI performing LTD and was organized by
Sub Jam and KwanYin Records.
Mini Midi Festival is a non-profit event for experimental/avant-garde/impro, electronic music, noise and sound art.
It is one of the only two festivals in this realm in China alongside of 2PI Festival of Hangzhou. It is an extension
of Waterland Kwanyin, the weekly free event. The crew is a group of volunteers.
The first year of Mini Midi Festival had 22 acts in 3 days. The second had 23 acts in 4 days. The third had 27 acts
in 3 days. The artist list including Staalplaat Soundsystem (DE), Jan Jelinek (DE), DDV (BE), FM3, Xiao He, Wang Fan,
Dajuin Yao, Lin Chiwei, Sulumi… from Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Datong, Qingdao, Taipei and Germany, Canada,
Japan, Korea, America, The Netherlands and Malaysia.
From 2005 to 2007, Mini Midi Festival had taken place at the Haidian Park, Beijing.
This year (2008), Mini Midi Festival will takes place at both outdoor and indoor of 2Kolegas Bar which is located
inside of the Drive-in Movie Theater. 2Kolegas Bar is also the venue of Waterland Kwanyin, the well known experimental event.
The festival will contain outdoor performances, lectures, film screen and eletronica music special party. Free entrance.
Mini Midi Festival doesn’t pay artist fee, accommodation and transportation fare. Goethe Institute (China) supported
German artists of Mini Midi 2007. Neocha.com provided a small fee for every artist of Mini Midi 2007.
